Community Programs

The focus of our Community Programs is two-fold. We offer assistance to people dealing with animal challenges and public education on animal issues. Please click on the headings below for in-depth information on either of these topics.

Homeless Cats

Homeless cats may be tame strays that are lost or have been abandoned by their owners; or they may be feral (or semi-feral) cats that were born wild and have never had human contact. If you are facing a homeless cat situation and need advice or assistance in finding resources, we may be able to help.

Barn Cat Placement

Our Barn Cat Placement Program provides relocation for feral cats that have been trapped, vaccinated, and neutered, but cannot be released back into their home environments. Placing these cats in barns ensures that they will be safe, fed daily, and watched over, while keeping the barn free of rodents. Barn placement is also an option for domesticated cats that have behavioral problems as indoor cats or that have been unsuccessful in finding permanent adoptive homes.

Public Education Service

If your school, house of worship, civic group, or other organization would like to host a Public Education talk or discussion about SCFAW or any of the services we offer, including the importance of spay/neutering your pets, we would welcome the opportunity to spread the word! Please email or phone us at 978-779-8287.

Spay/Neuter Info Days

Second Chance Fund for Animal Welfare hosts Spay/Neuter Info Days at various locations in Central Massachusetts. Our volunteers are happy to share information on our programs and the benefits of spaying and neutering pets, provide coaching on animal issues, and discuss the programs we offer.

Info Days are listed on our Calendar.
