"We will be forever grateful to SCFAW for its kind and compassionate support and education in helping us to trap and socialize all our feral cats and kittens seven years ago. Today, we no longer have feral kittens being born each spring, but now have 5 wonderful furry little companions in our home. You have done a tremendous amount of work in our area, and have made a noticeable difference. We are happy to continue supporting SCFAW in its urgent mission to offer education and affordable spay/neuter services for companion animals. You have always been there for us, and we are glad we are able to help with a bit of support for SCFAW in return! As always, thanks for all that you do!"

How You Can Help

There are as many as 130,000 homeless cats in Worcester County, Massachusetts, alone. This is approximately one homeless cat for every two households in the County! And this number can grow quickly if not kept in check at the grassroots level.

Whether you are an animal lover or a citizen concerned about your community, cat homelessness touches everyone.  or the animal lover, it is heartbreaking to see a cat's life cut short by health issues, cruelty and the dangers of the outdoors. For others, unmanaged colonies of stray cats scavenging for food and seeking shelter can create serious health concerns.

The answer is not to round them all up to euthanize them. This method simply does not work (click here to learn why). To stop the problem of homelessness, spay/neuter services for pet cats as well as homeless cats must be made affordable and accessible.

Second Chance Fund for Animal Welfare is a nonprofit grassroots spay/neuter organization. We partner with veterinarians in Central Massachusetts in a program known as CatSNIP Clinics, which offers discounted spay/neuter services to individuals and households that cannot otherwise afford this vital one-time surgery. Through our program, we address the root cause of homelessness: pet cats that lose their homes due to the nuisance behaviors of unaltered cats.

Today, as never before, you have an opportunity to help us carry out our mission—reducing cat overpopulation by offering affordable, accessible spay and neuter services in Central Massachusetts. In fact, our success depends directly on the generous support of compassionate people like you. You can help in a variety of ways. Please read on to learn more. And many thanks for your support!

Donations

Your support makes a huge difference to our success. Financial donations subsidize our spay/neuter clinic participants' co-pays, so that we can afford to keep holding our clinics. Click here to learn more.

Volunteering and Internships

Volunteers are the foundation of our organization. Our volunteers are essential for managing our Quick Fix Clinics, providing coaching for people facing animal challenges, or conducting public outreach programs.  Click here to learn more.

Unpaid internships are also a great way to get involved. If you love animals and would like to help make a difference in their lives, we would be pleased to design an internship opportunity to meet your needs. Click here to learn more.
